Training Specialist

Job Purpose:
The Training Specialist provides regional support for joint training, military readiness analysis, exercise planning, and training system integration. This position works under the direction of a Regional Lead to support National Guard organizations through training workshops, readiness assessments, exercise support, reporting, database maintenance, and Joint Training Plan activities.

Responsibilities 
  • Support Joint Training System integration in accordance with applicable joint guidance.
  • Assist with requirements identification, training planning, exercise execution, and assessment activities.
  • Support Mission Training Assessments, Joint Mission Essential Tasks, Joint Training Plan updates, and Training Proficiency Assessments.
  • Enter and maintain readiness information in applicable databases and reporting systems.
  • Support Defense Readiness Reporting System data entry and readiness reporting.
  • Participate in Joint Event Life Cycle planning conferences and exercise development activities.
  • Serve as an Observer/Controller/Trainer during military exercises and training events.
  • Assist with Master Scenario Events List development and exercise scripting.
  • Prepare briefings, trip reports, executive summaries, and training documentation.
  • Support regional workshops and provide instruction on joint training systems and processes.
  • Collect user feedback and submit database or system change requests.
  • Maintain regional contact rosters, metrics, training records, and event information.
  • Coordinate with regional leads and customer personnel to support training requirements.
  • Provide surge support across assigned regions when needed.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in military training development, joint training, readiness analysis, or a related field.
  • Experience with the Joint Training System and Joint Training Plan development.
  • Experience with at least two of the following systems: Defense Readiness Reporting System, Joint Training Information Management System, or Joint Lessons Learned Information System.
  • Experience supporting military exercises, readiness reporting, or Observer/Controller/Trainer activities.
  • Familiarity with Mission Training Assessments, Training Proficiency Assessments, and Joint Event Life Cycle planning.
  • National Guard, Reserve Component, Joint Staff, or combatant command experience strongly preferred.
  • Security+ or equivalent information assurance certification preferred.
  • Joint Professional Military Education Phase I preferred.
  • Must possess an active Secret clearance.
  • Must reside within the assigned geographic region.
  • Applicants must reside in the Southeast, Central, Southwest or Western U.S as regional travel of approximately 40–60% is required.
