Sr. Training Specialist- Regional Lead

Job Purpose:
The Senior Training Specialist serves as the regional subject matter expert and primary point of contact for assigned Joint Force Headquarters-State and Territory organizations. This role leads joint training support visits, exercise observation and assessment, workshop delivery, readiness analysis, Joint Training Plan development, and Joint Training System integration within an assigned region.

Responsibilities 
  • Serve as the primary regional point of contact for assigned National Guard organizations.
  • Integrate the Joint Training System into organizational training, exercise, and readiness processes.
  • Lead regional support visits, workshops, assessments, and training events.
  • Support all phases of the Joint Training System: requirements, planning, execution, and assessment.
  • Develop and update Joint Training Plans in accordance with applicable joint guidance.
  • Support Mission Training Assessments, Joint Mission Essential Tasks, Training Proficiency Assessments, and readiness reporting.
  • Provide input into Defense Readiness Reporting System activities.
  • Serve as an Observer/Controller/Trainer during exercises and training events.
  • Prepare task observations, executive summaries, trip reports, and after-action documentation.
  • Facilitate classified and unclassified workshops for senior military leaders and staff.
  • Support Joint Event Life Cycle planning conferences and exercise development.
  • Assist with Master Scenario Events List development and scripting.
  • Maintain regional contact rosters, training metrics, event schedules, and support records.
  • Provide recommendations to improve joint training readiness and organizational performance.
  • Coordinate with other regional leads to ensure consistent support and coverage.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in joint training, military readiness analysis, exercise planning, or training development.
  • Strong experience with all four phases of the Joint Training System.
  • Experience with Joint Training Information Management System, Defense Readiness Reporting System, Joint Lessons Learned Information System, or comparable systems.
  • Experience developing Joint Training Plans and supporting Joint Event Life Cycle activities.
  • Experience serving as an Observer/Controller/Trainer.
  • Experience briefing and instructing senior military or government leaders.
  • Joint Professional Military Education Phase I or II, or Senior Service School completion, highly preferred.
  • Security+ or equivalent information assurance certification preferred.
  • Operational Security Level I required.
  • Must possess an active, current Secret clearance and be eligible for SIPRNet access.
  • Must reside within the assigned region.
  • Must be able to travel approximately 40–60%.
