Paralegal Specialist

Job Purpose:
The Paralegal Specialist provides comprehensive legal and administrative support to a future federal client by assisting with the review, analysis, and management of claims and supporting documentation. This role works closely with program leadership to evaluate case files, identify legal and factual issues, prepare case documentation, and ensure timely processing of claims while delivering exceptional customer service to applicants and stakeholders

Responsibilities:
  • Review, analyze, and organize claim files and supporting documentation to identify legal and factual issues.
  • Assist with the preparation, review, and processing of claims and appeals throughout the case lifecycle.
  • Draft correspondence, memoranda, reports, and other legal and administrative documents for management review.
  • Track, maintain, and update case information within electronic case management systems.
  • Request, organize, and validate supporting documentation from applicants and external stakeholders.
  • Support educational assistance claims through document preparation, data validation, and spreadsheet calculations.
  • Monitor case status and assist with hearing and appeal tracking activities.
  • Capture and report program metrics, case data, and performance information.
  • Collaborate with Benefits Specialists and leadership to resolve case-related issues.
  • Maintain confidentiality while safeguarding sensitive and personally identifiable information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
  • Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies, Criminal Justice, Legal Studies, or a related field; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of paralegal or benefits/claims processing experience.
  • Experience reviewing legal documentation and supporting evidence.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience using electronic case management systems preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Moderate Risk Public Trust background investigation.
