Job Purpose:
The Maintenance & Training Long Range Scheduler is responsible for managing and coordinating long-range maintenance and training schedules for naval surface ships to ensure alignment with operational requirements, modernization efforts, and shipyard capacity. This position maintains Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) availability schedules, coordinates schedule changes across multiple Navy commands, and supports long-range maintenance and training planning processes. The role ensures that maintenance availabilities, operational schedules, and training requirements are synchronized to support fleet readiness and mission objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update CNSG-C ship CNO availability schedules on a daily basis to align with operational schedules, modernization installations, overhaul policies, and shipyard workload capacities.
- Manage and coordinate CNO availability schedule change proposals through the approval chain prior to message release.
- Review naval message traffic related to schedule changes, long-range maintenance planning, and CNO availability execution; disseminate relevant information to leadership and stakeholders.
- Participate in Long Range Maintenance Planning (LRMP) discussions and decision-making processes, including Surface Master Plan (SMP) development, Availability Duration Scorecard (ADS) reviews, and CNSL instruction updates.
- Participate in Fleet Forces Command (FFC) and NAVCENT schedule review processes.
- Coordinate with CNSL N43 and N3 personnel to evaluate schedule adjustments that could impact maintenance duration, operational requirements, or TYCOM maintenance objectives.
- Maintain communication with Regional Maintenance Centers (RMCs), System Commands (SYSCOMs), Fleet Forces, CNSL, and CNSP maintenance schedulers regarding availability scheduling and execution.
- Schedule and coordinate meetings to ensure short-term CNO maintenance availabilities align with port workloads and drydock capacity.
- Serve as the CNSG-C liaison with OPNAV, Fleet Forces Command, NAVCENT, CNSL, and SYSCOM staff regarding long-term maintenance scheduling and Global Force Management (GFM) planning.
- Review policies, instructions, and guidance related to CNO availability planning and scheduling; provide recommendations for improvements or corrections.
- Develop and manage integrated long-range training schedules to coordinate CNSG-C and external resources through Basic Phase training completion and certification validations.
- Coordinate regularly with operational task force scheduling entities to ensure efficient allocation of training and maintenance resources.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Strong working knowledge of the Surface Force Optimized Fleet Response Plan (OFRP) cycle and Navy maintenance availability requirements.
- Minimum ten (10) years of experience maintaining CNO availability schedules and supporting long-range maintenance planning processes.
- Demonstrated experience aligning ship operational schedules, training events, modernization installations, overhaul policies, and shipyard workload capacities.
- Familiarity with Long Range Maintenance Planning (LRMP) and naval maintenance scheduling processes.
- Knowledge of naval message traffic procedures and inter-command coordination processes.
- Strong coordination and communication skills when working with multiple Navy commands and stakeholders.
- Background knowledge of the Surface Force Training and Readiness Manual (SFTRM) is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with scheduling tools and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
