Training Coordinator

Job Purpose:
The Training Coordinator provides technical and administrative support to manage and coordinate training programs that support naval operational readiness. This role is responsible for maintaining training records, coordinating training events, managing training systems, and ensuring personnel meet required certification and readiness standards. The position also supports knowledge management initiatives, facilitates information sharing across commands, and assists leadership in tracking training progress and resolving readiness deficiencies.


Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support to analyze, develop, review, update, and validate mission area training assessments, certification standards, and readiness requirements.
  • Coordinate with fleet staffs, units, training commands, SYSCOMs, and research organizations to ensure training reflects current operational policies and guidance.
  • Maintain electronic records of training completions for both classroom and online courses across mission areas.
  • Coordinate training events including scheduling, reserving facilities, setting up equipment, recording attendance, and distributing training notifications.
  • Collect, organize, and maintain training documentation and provide administrative support for training analysis.
  • Develop and manage integrated long-range training plans to support completion of Basic Phase training and certification requirements.
  • Serve as the Advance Skills Management (ASM) Administrator, responsible for maintaining personnel qualifications, training records, and account management.
  • Provide support and oversight for training and readiness systems including Defense Readiness Reporting System (DRRS-S), Advance Skills Management (ASM), and Enterprise Safety Application Management System (ESAMS).
  • Maintain training records and track mandatory training requirements for command personnel.
  • Review training instructions and provide recommendations to improve training processes and effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement knowledge management (KM) processes to improve information sharing and collaboration across the command.
  • Serve as the command’s KM advocate, promoting knowledge sharing, collaboration, and improved decision-making across teams.
  • Coordinate with metrics and lessons learned personnel to support training performance improvements.
  • Serve as the Collaboration at Sea (CAS) Administrator, managing site access, accounts, and updates.
  • Serve as the Command School Coordinator, enrolling personnel in required training courses, tracking completion, and coordinating TYCOM waivers when required.
  • Participate in command meetings, conferences, and staff calls to support training and knowledge management initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
Qualifications:
  • Recommended ten (10) years of Active Duty United States Navy experience coordinating training events, managing training records, and supporting operational readiness.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Surface Force Optimized Fleet Response Plan (OFRP) cycle and surface ship training and readiness requirements.
  • Experience managing training schedules and operational events using Training and Operational Readiness Information Services (TORIS).
  • Familiarity with the Surface Force Training and Readiness Manual (SFTRM) is highly desirable.
  • Experience supporting knowledge management and readiness systems including DRRS-S, ASM, ESAMS, and SharePoint.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills with the ability to coordinate training programs across multiple commands and stakeholders.
