Purpose: The Reprographic Technician will manage the operation and maintenance of the Sterling Building Copy Center and its satellite copiers. This role involves handling high-speed and mid-volume digital machines, a color copier, and ensuring all equipment is maintained in optimal working condition. The technician serves as a central point of contact for copier support and plays a key role in maintaining the smooth operation of reprographic and mailroom services.
Responsibilities:
Manage the operation and upkeep of the Sterling Building Copy Center, including high-speed digital copiers, mid-volume copiers, and one color copier.
Perform regular maintenance, such as cleaning the glass, checking ink and toner levels, and adding paper and staples to all copiers.
Ensure equipment is in working condition, coordinate repairs, and handle preventive maintenance through service agreements with Xerox and Canon.
Serve as the central contact for 21 walk-up self-service copiers located throughout the Sterling building.
Maintain service agreements, coordinate repairs, and ensure preventive maintenance for the self-service machines.
Operate all reprographic equipment in the Copy Center to produce high-quality finished work, including light and heavy-duty staplers and binding machines.
Submit weekly reports on output volume and monitor equipment usage within the Copy Center.
Prioritize and manage incoming work, adjusting as needed to meet changing priorities.
Implement and maintain a quality control system to ensure timely and efficient completion of work.
Safeguard all proprietary documents marked as "PROPRIETARY FOR THE U.S. GOVERNMENT USE ONLY" in line with regulatory requirements, ensuring proper disposal and shredding of unacceptable copies.
Record monthly meter reads from all copiers throughout the Sterling Building, maintaining accurate records.
Use online platforms to track copy volume and ensure proper reporting and maintenance services for satellite copiers.
Answer phones, assist with checking out government vehicles, inventory printed materials, and manage deliveries.
Act as a backup for servicing government vehicles, including fueling and general maintenance.
Perform mailroom duties such as metering, sorting, delivering, and picking up mail.
Prepare express mail bills for air shipments.
Provide monthly reports on copier usage and weekly technical assistance updates to BSSE and Bureau of Ocean Energy Management customers.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English fluently.
